Sailing Workshop

Sailing brings you into harmony with the wind and the water, the craft and the crew. At this workshop you will learn about PFD’s, boating emergencies, nautical terms, knots, weather spotting, hypothermia, and actually sail your own boat! Want a more intensive experience? Sign up for the two day sailing workshop instead! Juniors will complete their Small Craft Badge and Teens their Smooth Sailing Interest Project Patch. Cost includes Badge or IP and snack.

Port Oneida Fair

Feel history come alive at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore!  Both days from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the Port Oneida Rural Historic District will be awake with activities from the past - arts and crafts, rural life skills, and demonstrations at a variety of farmsteads within the district.  Girl Scouts who spend five hours at the fair and complete a special scavenger hunt can earn a Scout Ranger certificate! 

 

Grade Level: All/Family

Date: Friday, August 13 and/or Saturday, August 14, 2010

Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Location: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Cost: Free with the purchase of a $10 week-long park pass or $20 annual park pass.

Mackinac Island Crawl

Don’t miss this awesome girl led event, partially planned by the Mackinac Island Honor Scouts! Explore all of the great things that Mackinac Island has to offer – tour the Grand Hotel, go on a carriage tour, visit the fort and have fun doing a variety of activities on Saturday. Bring a friend! Just add $12 for membership registration to the event fee. Girls that bring a friend will be entered into a drawing for free fudge! Cost includes round trip ferry tickets, Saturday meals and Sunday breakfast, activities, carriage tour, tour of the Grand Hotel, admission to Fort Mackinac and a two night stay at the Murray Hotel or Inn on Mackinac on Mackinac Island (price based on 4 person occupancy).

National Public Lands Day Beach Cleanup

Enjoy Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on thie "fee-free" day by participating in a beach cleanup from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.  This event is open to the public, but Girl Scouts will get to work together in their own cleanup crew!
